Privacy Policy

What we collect

If you read the site: Standard server access logs (your IP, the page you requested, your user agent, the time). Standard analytics (which pages get viewed, how long, where visitors come from). We use Google Analytics for this. It uses cookies. You can opt out via your browser settings or the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

If you use the calculator or other tools: Nothing. The Budget Calculator runs entirely in your browser. Your income, savings, and timeline never leave your device. We don't store calculator inputs server-side.

If you subscribe to the newsletter: Your email address (required) and any optional fields you fill in. We use this to send the weekly newsletter and occasional product updates. You can unsubscribe with one click from any email.

If you email us: Whatever you write in the email. We keep emails for correspondence and to improve the site.

What we don't collect

• We do not collect your name, address, phone number, or any sensitive personal info beyond what's listed above.
• We do not sell your data. We do not buy data about you from third parties.
• We do not use tracking pixels in emails (no read receipts).
• We do not run retargeting / behavioral advertising across the web.

Cookies

The site uses cookies for two purposes: (1) Google Analytics measurement, and (2) any third-party affiliate links you click may set their own cookie when you reach the retailer's site (this is how the retailer credits us with the referral). You can block all cookies in your browser without breaking the site.

Affiliate links

When you click an affiliate link and buy something, we get a small commission at no cost to you. The retailer's cookie tracks the referral; we receive an aggregate report (anonymous count of purchases attributed to JewelEditor) but never your specific identity or purchase details. Third parties we use

• Vercel: hosts the website. Sees standard server access info.
• Google Analytics: measures usage. Has its own privacy policy.
• Affiliate networks (CJ, Impact, Awin, others): track referrals from our links to retailer purchases.
• Newsletter provider: stores subscriber email addresses. We'll disclose the specific provider here once the newsletter launches.

Your rights

You have the right to: ask what data we hold about you, request correction or deletion, opt out of analytics tracking, and (for EU/UK residents) request data portability, object to processing, restrict processing, or lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Email editor@jeweleditor.com for any of the above. We respond within 7 days.

EU/UK residents (GDPR): The legal basis for our analytics is legitimate interest in operating the site; you may withdraw consent at any time. We do not have a designated EU representative (the site is operated from outside the EU at a small scale not requiring one under Art. 27). California residents (CCPA): The categories of personal information we collect are listed above (server access data, analytics, newsletter email). We do not sell personal information. You have the right to know what we've collected, to request deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

Data retention

Server access logs are retained for 30 days. Google Analytics data is retained per Google's default (currently 14 months). Newsletter subscriber emails are retained until you unsubscribe, at which point the address is removed within 30 days. Direct email correspondence is retained indefinitely unless you request deletion.

Cookies and consent

The site uses Google Analytics cookies for usage measurement. If you are in the EU/UK and the site has not yet implemented a cookie-consent banner, you can block analytics cookies in your browser settings or via the Google Analytics opt-out add-on (both are functionally equivalent for our purposes).

Children

JewelEditor is not directed at children under 16 and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We'll update the "last updated" date at the top when this policy changes. Material changes will also be announced in the newsletter.
